Whitworths Christmas Cake Baking Kit

Christmas Cake is like Marmite - either you love it or you hate it, I 'like' Christmas Cake, its not my favourite but its not Christmas without a cake to devour with cups of tea, port and cheese.

I have always fancied making my own, starting months before and then pouring alcohol over it to keep it moist (and very boosy) for weeks and weeks. As always I forgot and so 3 days before the big day I am now embarking on making my cake.

To help me out I am using a Christmas Cake kit from Whitworths. Inside is almost everything I need: Soft Brown Sugar, Mixed Fruit with Rum, Black Treacle, Chopped Almonds, Plain Flour, Mixed Spice and the recipe card. You also need to provide yourself the baking tin, baking parchment, butter, 3 eggs and lemon zest and juice.

To make the cake just follow the instructions - simple :) (I'll let you know how I get on)
I have read online to lower the temperature in my oven a bit as I have a fan oven and also to put a circle of baking parchment on top of the cake (not touching the mixture) so that the top doesn't get too brown. The pack states 150*C so I'll knock it down to 140*C instead. The total baking time is 3 hours so I will watch that too as it may cook a little quicker in my oven.

What annoys me is that the decorating kit has to be brought separately. The cake kit is around £8 which is a lot cheaper than buying all the ingredients on their own (plus you have no half packets of ingredients hanging around or being wasted), then you have to buy a decorating kit (or all the icing sugar etc... to make your own) the icing kits are at least a further £5+ to buy.

To be honest its cheaper and easier to buy a ready done cake .... but its not so much fun :)

Moon Sand is a play sand that easily sticks together and moulds without the need for water. It can be played with inside as it isn't mucky and can easily be hoovered up if an accident occurs.

Up until now the Moon Sand range was mostly aimed at girls, the construction set is however for a more male market ... build it up and knock it down!

A great present this Christmas, one that's intended for the kids but Dads and Uncles will end up playing with instead.

Man Wrap

Man Wrap

Man Wrap is a wrapping paper made from thick foil, basically it allows you to wrap a gift in seconds without the need for scissors or sticky tape.

I have to admit that although it is a snazzy idea and perfect for men .. its not entirely brilliant.

Great points:

Fantastic for wrapping odd shapes such as the bottle in the video above or erm... Easter eggs!
It also looks shiny and is pretty simple to use.
I have run my finger along the edges and so far I haven't been able to cut myself (which I was a bit concerned about).
Not only it is easy to wrap stuff, it is also easy to unwrap too :) so great for people with arthritis or a disability who find wrapping or unwrapping a problem.
You do not need to struggle and muck about with sticky tape, in fact you could wrap 3 gifts in the time it takes to find the end of the tape on the roll.

Bad points:

The roll isn't very wide, it could do with being twice the length that it is to be able to wrap more items effectively.
You only get 5m for the £5.99 rrp .. so at £1.20 per metre it is quite pricey.
Its basically thick tin foil! You may as well just buy some extra thick Baco Foil and have the same effect, plus you can get it in extra widths for your turkey.
I have wrapped up Andy's Xbox controller (as it was next to me, that'll fool him later when he tries to find it) and it looks like a cruddily-wrapped melted Easter egg, not a brilliant look.

Oh course you can still tart up your foil wrapped presents with bows and ribbon if you wish too, but then that kind of defeats the object.

The foil comes on a handle which will help for wrapping upright stuff (not entirely sure what??) but I am sure it could be handy.

I am not entirely impressed with this product, as a Secret Santa fun present then it is fab! But as a usable item, unless you have a special need and require help with wrapping .. its not worth the price and I would stick to traditional wrapping paper, even if you do get stuck together with tape and curling ribbon.

Stuck for what to get the kids for Christmas? Do you have an active bunch or usually end up with half the kids from the street in your house? WowWee may have the answer.

Light Strike is a home version of Lazer Tag, when I was about 15 Lazer Tag was massive in the UK ... indoor units were setting up assault maze style courses for people to hire out and run round for an hour shooting each other with harmless lazer guns. I know there are a few places now that still offer the chance to play 'lazer army' against your friends even now as we have one in Cannock. Great for corporate do's and team building amongst other skills.

Now though you can play the game in your own home!!

WowWee have brought out Light Strike, the kit is quite pricy but you don't have to buy all the gear to play .. you can add to your collection as the kids (and adults) get better and require more kit to make the game more interesting.

This video will explain it all better than I can, its quite a fast paced action game and that it quite hard to get across in a blog post.

Now you don't have to be able to do back flips to play. Simple skills such as being able to play hide and seek are a good start! From an educational point of view you can improve team building skills and also the exercise is good for everyone. This is the type of game that is better played outside (unless you have a massive house) and so you get some good old fresh air as well.

Light Strike is not just for boys I might add, plenty of girls like combat style games - bring the video games to life and actually join in with no worry of getting hurt. A good idea if you do have mixed teams is boys against girls or kids against adults ... who will win ???

The whole kit is quite comprehensive with different types of guns, scopes, enemy scanners, add-on bits for the guns and targets to try and hit.

I have recently tried some new meal kits from Lyons Seafoods, all of the kits had a chinese or thai influence containing everything I needed to make prawn and fish dishes.

To be honest we all really loved them. They were simple to cook, the instructions were very clear to follow and the food smelt mouthwatering while cooking, then all were extremely tasty to eat. The meals do not take a lifetime to cook either, each took less than 10 minutes to prepare (some took less than 5) which is great for busy people.

The kits are supposed to feed 2 people, now I don't know if we are just greedy or that people eat very little? I found the kits to be a little on the small size. Andy, my Dad and I ate 3 of the kits and I also cooked up a further dish and some noodles to compliment the range of food. We used them a little like a Chinese/Thai banquet with a little of each style on our plates with rice and noodles.

Andy's favourite was the Thai Sweet Chilli King Prawn kit, it was full of big juicy fresh prawns and the vegetables included were 'different' to what we normally eat but were all really crunchy and tasty.

My favourite was the Catalan Fish Stew, ok it was a little stinky to cook but the kit was full of flavours - it was lovely!

My Dad liked them all, he had no particular favourite but did like the Malaysian King Prawn Laska flavours and accompanied vegetables (particularly the mini sweetcorn).

Weightless uses specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener. A continuous rhythm of 60 BPM causes the brainwaves and heart rate to synchronise with the rhythm: a process known as ‘entrainment’. Low underlying bass tones relax the listener and a low whooshing sound with a trance-like quality takes the listener into an even deeper state of calm.

Scientists at Mindlab International, an independent research consultancy based at the Sussex Innovation Centre, tested subjects to record the subconscious physical responses to listening to Weightless versus other music and having massages.

The effect of the activities on heart rate, respiration and skin conduction concluded that listening to Weightless had a much more relaxing effect than listening to conventionally ‘relaxing’ music by Adele, Enya, Coldplay, Moby and Mozart.

Our music tends to be very relaxing but working with Lyz, the sound therapist, helped us to understand the science behind some of the techniques that we intuitively use when making music. It was fascinating to have the physiological responses to the music tested in a laboratory.”

The BBC Good Food Show Winter is the perfect place to find everything you need for Christmas all under one roof. With 21 years experience of putting together the country’s biggest and best Food event, The Good Food Show offers a great festive day out.

I attend the show every year, each year it gets bigger and better with more product exhibitors, live show's and idea's for me to take home with me.

To be honest I only really go to taste everything, I like to try all the food samples and buy products that I thought "Blimey that's nice!". Last year I tasted and brought a good range of products ready for Christmas, I came home with bags full of cake mixes, ready made brownies, cheeses and sausages (some were locally produced and not big name producers).

I also like to taste different wines to try to grasp the difference between dry, medium, sweet etc... having all the different brands available you can get a good idea of wines you like from different countries and brands. They normally have fantastic offers available so you can purchase in bulk and save a packet.

During the last show I was also introduced to whisky and other stronger spirits. I have never really been a big fan of strong liquors but by having a small taste of different types I have actually used some in my cooking! I have recently made a tea bread with whisky which I would never have attempted before.

I can't wait for this years show, I wonder how many celebrities I can spot this year? Keep your eyes peeled when you are walking around as you can suddenly be face-to-face with your favourite foodie stars from the telly while you are supping wine or stuffing yourself silly with cake samples.

I really like the look of these boots, the sheepskin inner keeps your feet warm in the cold and cooler in the warmer days. I like the idea of the removable insoles for washing and freshening up if required.

I have copied and pasted the press release above as it holds so much vital information, the bars are a great idea and a wonderful alternative to other types of snack bar - however ... we as a family unfortunately didn't like them.

I'll admit we are not the most healthy of families so I was a bit dubious of asking my family to try them, so I just put them in the fridge and sat back and waited.

The colourful packaging drew them in, I could hear my husband rumidging about in the fridge umming and ahhing over 'Tomato Pizza or Thai Sweetcorn'. He went for pizza, unwrapped and took a big bite! Bad move for Andy as his face changed and he spat it out. I told him not to tell Emma and sent him off with a cup of tea and a cereal bar. Soon Emma was lurking around the fridge, she chose Thai Sweetcorn which surprised me as she isn't normally a 'spicy' child, the yellow packaging on this bar is a lovely colour and from the outside it does look very appetising. Emma was a little more cautious and sniffed it first and nibbled off a corner, it was then her face changed and she gave the bar to me with a 'What is that!?!' look and poured herself a drink.

It is such as shame as the bars are a brilliant idea. Now that schools are clamping down on crisps and chocolate in lunch boxes they are an excellent alternative, easy to store and pack, eye-catching and clean to eat. The nutritional value of each bar is fantastic and they count towards your 5-a-day. They are just not for us.

I will point out that you have to keep them chilled, the packaging looks great but the bars look vaguely similar when unwrapped and they do all smell near on the same as well. The bars we sampled did not have a very long shelf life as they are a fresh product - so be aware when buying that you have to consume them quite quickly.

Our bars did not go to waste, we found that our Labrador liked them so she polished them off for us, being healthy they were a great treat for her too and she thought she was getting a new snack from the fridge. My advice is to try them - just because they weren't for us ... your family may love them :)

I have looked at the Tefal Actifry in the shops and umm'd and arr'd about buying one, would I use it? do we like chips that much? luckily for me I have had the chance to try one out ... and I have to admit - I love it!

The Tefal Actifry makes real chips using only 1 spoonful of oil. When you compare this to a regular deep fat fryer you can see how much healthier the Tefal Actifry is. The food is crisp on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside - but not dripping with oil or full of fat.

The actual parts of the Tefal Actifry are very sturdy and well made. All parts (the basket, paddle and spoon) can be put in the dishwasher to clean, I just pop mine in the washing up bowl and give them a rinse as being non-stick they clean really well. My only complaint is that food can get trapped in the underneath parts of the paddle, but if you get a scouring sponge the bits of food come out easily.

The unit works by blowing hot air over the food in order to cook it. As the air blows it picks up a mist of the oil which 'frys' on the outside of the chips (or onion rings, wedges, roast potatoes etc..) and crisps the outside. As the food cooks a large paddle turns the food slowly so that nothing gets squashed but all food is evenly cooked. I am very impressed with the paddle as it rotates the food not only around the bowl but also turns the food so that the bottom batch comes to the top etc...

We have had chips most nights since trying the Actifry, I was worried at one point that we would get sick of them, but Andy insists that as we have not had 'real' chips for years its a treat to be able to eat them whenever we like and not worry about weight gain

I have tried various variety's of chips in the unit, frozen thin cut 'french fries' cooked quite quickly and tasted good, frozen crinkle cut chips took 20 minutes to cook but tasted a little dry. We have all agreed that the best chips have been from fresh potatoes - I found that soaking them in water while peeling and chopping, then drying them with kitchen roll before cooking in the Actifry made the best chips. They took around 20 minutes to cook, but were crisp and fluffy - very tasty!

You can use any oil of your choice, I prefer to use olive oil but vegetable is fine.

Now what really surprised me was what other products you can cook in the unit, you get a good recipe book with the product but there are also other recipes online if you do a quick search.

Chicken With Pineapple

• 600 g (1 lb 5 oz) skinless boneless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips (about 1 cm x 3 cm/1/2 x 11/4 in)

• 1 spoon cornflour, plus extra to coat the chicken strips
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
• 2 spoon sunflower oil
• 1/2 spoon ground ginger
• 1/2 spoon mild curry powder (or choose medium, if you prefer)
• 250 g (9 oz) canned pineapple pieces (drained weight) in natural juice, drained (reserve the juice)
• 2 spoon light soy sauce
• 250 ml (9 fl oz) cold water
• 1/2-1 spoon light soft brown sugar, or to taste
• 2 spoon reserved pineapple juice

In a large bowl, lightly coat the strips of chicken with a mixture of cornflour, salt and pepper. Place the chicken in the ActiFry pan, then drizzle the oil evenly over the chicken. Cook for 5 minutes.

Mix the ground ginger, curry powder and pineapple pieces with the soy sauce in a bowl, then pour this mixture evenly into the ActiFry and leave to marinade for 5 minutes. Add the water and sugar. Mix 1 ActiFry spoonful of cornflour with the pineapple juice in a small bowl, until smooth. Add this to the ActiFry.

Cook for a further 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked and tender. Serve with cooked, seasoned basmati rice.

Roquefort Dip

200 g (7 oz) Roquefort cheese, crumbled

3 spoon milk

115 g (4 oz) crème fraiche

1-2 spoon snipped fresh chives, plus extra to garnish

Salt and ground pepper

Place the Roquefort cheese in a bowl and mash with a fork. Add the milk and mash together until well combined, then stir in the crème fraiche.

Stir in the snipped chives. Season to taste with salt and pepper, if desired.
Spoon the mixture into a small serving bowl, garnish with extra snipped chives and serve with cooked potato wedges or chips.

Variations
Place all the ingredients, except the snipped chives, in a blender or food processor and blend until well combined. Stir in the chives, adjust the seasoning to taste and serve as above.
Use other blue cheese such as Dolcelatte, Gorgonzola or Stilton in place of Roquefort.

All in all I am very impressed with the Tefal Actifry, I have used it most days and looks pretty swish on my worktop. A highly recommended product!

Curvaceous Beauties - Never Again!

I am a plus-size, so to buy nice underwear and sexy nightwear I find it quite hard to find clothing that either fits properly or actually looks nice.

On the Internet I stumbled across Curvaceous Beauties a plus size lingerie and sexy nightwear store ... bingo! I thought and placed an order.

I placed my order online and paid £37.93 via Paypal for ....
1 x Suspender Chemise - Plus Size - £29.99
1 x Sexy Sheer Stockings - Colour: Black - £4.99
P&P £2.95

Then sat and waited patiently for my order to arrive ... I was actually quite excited as I haven't treated myself (or Andy!) to some sexy undies for well... urm ... ever!

Anyhow - my order came and I was very disappointed. For a plus-size garment it was poor fabric, yes it fit around my middle but the cup sizes were very very small (there was no way that my big bazookas were going to fit in them). So I repackaged the dress without even having to open the stockings packet and put them both back into the postal bag to be returned.

Here is where the fun starts!

You have to have a 'code' to return items. I emailed twice for a code and telephoned - it is always an answerphone but at this point I didn't leave a message.
My emails didn't get a reply for over 10 days! by this time I had already returned the package with my order number and copy of the emails inside.

Basically you have to contact them for a 'return code' as stated on their website ... all the code is is your original order code but written on the outside of the packaging that you return your goods in .... how pathetic! why not just put that on the website.

So .. order returned Recorded Delivery (at my own cost) I sit and wait for my refund.
They do state on the website that it can take up to 30 days for the refund to be processed - I understand this as with the items they sell they have to check every items for wear or use, plus you can only return certain items due to hygiene etc... which is great and a good point for the company.

After nearly a month I telephoned them just to check they have received my package as I have had no contact from them - I left a message on the answerphone - no return call from them. So I emailed and someone emailed back stating their 30 day rule - no problem.

Today I received my refund .... £29.99 ???? my original order (minus postage) was £34.98
Where has the other £4.99 gone ??

Well I have emailed (again) to ask why I have been shortchanged. After 2 lots of postage coming to around £6 in total ... why charge me a further £4.99 ?

I am not happy - which is why I am writing this blog review of the company to warn other plus-size ladies about what bad customer service I have received ..... I would have been better off shopping on eBay!

If/When I get a reply I will update this blog post (22/04/11).

The moral to my post is - DO NOT USE www.curvaceousbeauties.com for your sexy pants - shop elsewhere.

Smarties Chicken and Egg

We have pet chickens at home, so to review a chocolate chicken for Easter is quite funny for our family.

Smarties have produced a chocolate chicken, the chocolate of the chicken shell is quite thick and solid ... you have to give it a good bash to break it into chunks. I was a little disappointed at the size of the chicken though - the recommended retail price is £2.50 which for the size I feel is a little steep.

Inside there is a chocolate egg :) the chocolate is quite thin but when you break this open there are mini Smarties inside. We had 6 mini Smarties in our egg ... giving the price and the size of the egg this is a bit stingy - they could of at least filled it up!

I like the chocolate taste, its not too sweet, but giving the size of the chicken it is not a chocolate treat that could be easily shared between children.

Its a nice idea, but too much money for the amount of chocolate included. With the deals on regular Easter Eggs in the shops I feel this product could easily get overlooked.

So Smarties - here's the answer: Make it bigger next year and include more Smarties :)

The weather is getting warmer and I'll bet that most of you had the BBQ out last weekend ... well whats a BBQ without Heinz?

Heinz have produced a limited edition Salad Cream with Cucumber and Dill. Do you remember when they launched their Lemon and Black Pepper variety? A lot of people decided that Heinz Salad Cream was such an iconic brand that you couldn't 'mess' with the taste .. oh how wrong they were, people loved it and it soon became a regular on the supermarket shelves.

Heinz Cucumber and Dill Salad Cream can be used with your regular salads, sandwiches, fish and even burgers! I actually like to put salad cream on sausages so I know that salad cream isn't just for salad!

The Lemon and Black Pepper variety was blended to compliment chicken and tuna, Cucumber and Dill has been specially prepared to match oily fish dishes such as salmon and mackerel, it even tastes great with red meats such as BBQ burgers and lamb.

The taste is quite sharp on first taste (as Salad Cream is), but it has a nice pleasant aftertaste which is quite soothing. I certainly can't wait to use it when we next have a BBQ as I am not a great lover of red sauce and so prefer to use salad cream instead.

Honeycomb Puffs

Limited Edition - Honeycomb Puffs

Emma likes Sugar Puffs and so expressed an interest in the new limited edition Honeycomb Puffs from the family favourite Honey Monster. Every morning I make sure she has breakfast before school, I believe that a good breakfast keeps you healthy and helps you concentrate - therefore everyone should at least try to have something for breakfast.

Basically the Honeycomb Puffs cereal is sugar puffs with large chunks of honeycomb, to be fair the box did have a good portion of honeycomb mixed in with the cereal which I was very surprised at ... so you do get a good amount of honeycomb per bowl.

As always the brand have looked after our children's health by maintaining their promise of 'no artificial anything' by promoting Honeycomb Puffs as a good source of fibre, suitable for vegetarians and that each bowlful is fortified with vitamins and iron.

Typically each 30g serving contains 114kcal, which considering that the same size portion of Special K is 112kcal this is fantastic for a sweet breakfast cereal (http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories-in-food/breakfast-cereals/Kelloggs-Special-K.htm). Other comparable results per 30g are protein 1.4g, Carbohydrate 26.0g (of which sugars 12.0g), Fat 0.4g and Fibre 1.0g.

Emma did eat the whole boxful of cereal over a couple of weeks, which is rare as I normally end up giving the last few dregs to our pet chickens. However she wasn't overally impressed with them. Sometimes she said that the honeycomb got in the way of her eating and got stuck in her teeth, other days she chose other products as she didn't fancy something as sweet as Honeycomb Puffs.
She has commented that younger children would love the cereal, but that she prefers Honey Waffles another new variety of cereal from the Honey Monster ... she has only eaten two bowlfuls so as yet hasn't given me a valid reason why she prefers the other style.

Definitely a brand to watch though as they have lots of different limited editions planned for 2011.

Total are introducing a brand new concept in healthier eating - delicious fat-free Greek Yoghurt with a side portion of honey or fruit compote.

I like yoghurt, but I am a sweet yoghurt fan at heart. Greek Yoghurt to me has always been a little bland, so for it to come with a side portion of fruit compote or honey to sweeten/flavour it, I was very interested.

Total 0% Greek Yoghurt Split Pots come in four delicious flavours: Blueberry, Tropical Fruit, Strawberry and Honey. My favourite has to be the blueberry as the compote is quite strong and packed with fruit, with the Greek yoghurt it tastes lovely, creamy and is a treat not just a yoghurt.

The split pot yoghurts are great for breakfast, lunch, a snack or a dessert. We mostly ate them after school when we were peckish before dinner, but I did on occasion eat one for breakfast.

I only had a few problems with the packs.

Emma struggled to get the top off of the pots without tipping it everywhere
I couldn't get the last bit of fruit/honey out of the side compartment even with using a spoon (both ends) and even squeezing the packaging.
The honey variety set hard in the fridge (but that could be my fridge being a bit too cold).

Each yogurt is made from pasteurised skimmed cows milk, live yoghurt culture plus honey or fruit compote.
The blueberry, tropical fruits and strawberry posts all contain 127.5 calories per tub or less. The honey is a bit higher at 167 calories per tub.

You've Bean Shaped !!

Douwe Egberts have produced a very very clever new type of filter coffee. No more do you have to measure out spoonfuls of coffee into your cafetiere or filter machine, you just pop in a bean for each person!

Each 'spoonful' has been compactly pressed into a bean shape, they are actually quite a realistic shape ... 1 bean is equal to 1 cup of coffee.

Each 210g tin has 30 servings (beans) inside. The packs are a resealable foil fresh tin so they are very easy to reseal to keep the coffee beans fresh.

Aromettes at present come as 'smooth aroma' which is strength 3 and 'intense aroma' which is strength 5.

You use them as you would measured coffee in your cafetiere or filter machine.

For cafetieres, add hot water just off the boil, stir then allow to crew for 3-4 minutes before plunging and enjoying. For filter machines brew as normal according to the instructions of your machine.

The stats so far have shown that 68% of consumers say that they would definitely or probably buy Aromettes at the RRP of £3.69, 46% of consumers indicated that they would use Aromettes ground coffee servings on a daily basis.

I would be inclined to agree with both of the above, its a great product that is quick and easy to use, the new bean form loses no flavour and the coffee is lovely :)

Sudocrem

I always refer to Sudocrem as 'Bum Cream', having had a baby and 3 baby nieces we as a family have gone through a lot of bum cream over the past 10 years. Emma was a particularly nappy-rashy baby, it didn't matter how often we changed her nappy her wee always stung her skin and made her sore. My youngest niece was the same, always had a red raw bum and cried when she wee'd .... in all occasions Sudocrem has come to the rescue.

I remember the first time I put Sudocrem on Emma's little bum, I didn't realise that you only needed a tiny bit and that you sort of spread it over the surface, so I dobbed on a massive blob - and white washed the baby! I soon learnt that the reason it also came in nappy bag travel sized pots was that you didn't need much, in fact I think (by the time I mastered it) my big tub actually lasted us years!

So why am I reviewing Sudocrem now? I don't have a baby to test it on, well Sudocrem isn't only for sore bums it has a lot of other uses as well ...........

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is gentle, so it won’t sting on application. It can reduce the risk of infection and contains a mild local anaesthetic to soothe pain. Emma has acne, so we have been putting Sudocrem on her sore spots, it hasn't had an amazing effect yet, but we are still in the trial stage.

I used the tube of cream on some dry spots of skin on Andy's legs, again having lost my 'a little goes a long way' skills I accidently white washed him then made him sit on a tea towel so that he didn't get Sudocrem on the settee. It sorted out his legs though and stopped him from scratching as he was driving me mad!

All in all Sudocrem is a very handy cream to have around, it has many uses - buy a pot and see how you get on :)

JML Turbo Snake

Another handy product from JML, very simple to use and actually really effective.
My bath was taking ages for the water to go down, you could actually soak your feet while you had a shower the plug was that clogged up ... so I decided to give the Turbo Snake a try.

Basically its 2 different sized plastic coated wires with Velcro-like ends. All you have to do is poke it down the plughole, wiggle it around and pull it out!

I decided to give my bathroom sink a clean first and inserted the Turbo Snake - OMG tons and tons of matted smelly soap scummed hair came out!! Then I realised that my bath and sink use the same pipe, so it was this that had been blocking the bathwater. The Turbo Snake was easy to clean and the mess put into the bin ... so I gave the bath plughole a try - again quite a bit of muck came out (but the majority came out of the sink).

So .. it really does work! There are different ends for different types of plug - even those ones that go up and down with a lever (and sit flush to your sink). Easy to store as you also get a little stick-on hook to hang it up under your sink.

This is a product that you normally see at the Ideal Home type shows and you think "Oooh thats good!" and buy one.
In the pack I have there are 2 different sized rods and 2 freshness bags ... to start with I got it all wrong - I thought the rods could only be used with the bags provided and I was worried about re-using the bags etc.... BUT its NOT the bags that I should be reviewing its the actual RODS.

The AnyLock Sealing Rods are actually brilliant! You can use them on any kind of bag or wrapper.

Tetley Tea-Shirts

Tetley have brought out a range of retro t-shirts or tea-shirts :)
Each shirt is of excellent soft 80% Cotton and 20% Polyester, the fabric is soft on the skin and very well made.

There are 3 designs to choose from for men and 1 for ladies, although I think that all are pretty much uni-sex styles.

I know nothing about stitching terms or sewing, but I am very impressed with the finish of the t-shirts. The shoulder stiches have been stitched 3 times so that there are no raw edges and its comforatble against your skin on the shoulder line. There are no loose threads on any of the seams which are all straight.
The printing is of a high quality too - it doesn't feel sticky or rubbery as the print is sort of in the fabric instead of on the fabric. They almost have a 'washed' feel to them like you have worn them a few times and so are very comfortable and natural to wear.

When Emma was a baby we used to feed her Milkybar as she loved it - actually 'Daddy' used to eat most of it and give poor baby Emma a tiny bit to suck on then spit down her chin.

Nordic Naturals provide a wide range of supplements ans vitamins all containing purified fish oil.
Now when I think of fish oil I immediately thing that its going to smell and taste of rotten fish - well you'll be pleased to hear that due to it being purified Nordic Naturals have removed all the yukkyness, kept the goodness and added a pleasant flavour.

I have been reviewing a product from Nordic Naturals called Ultimate Omega D3.
They are quite large lemon flavoured soft gel capsules that provide exceptionally high levels of the omega-3 essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, in addition to 1000 I.U. of vitamin D3, in one delicious serving.
Vitamin D3 (or cholecalciferol) is the natural form of vitamin D produced by the body, and is better absorbed and utilized than other forms.

At first glance I thought the capsules to be very big, but as they are smooth they are very very easy to swallow (which is good as you have to take 2 daily with food). To be honest I don't know why they worry about making them lemon flavour as you don't taste them at all! It is nicer though if you smell the container to smell lemon rather than fish.

The purified fish oil is from anchovies and sardines, this along with the Vitamin D3 helps to support your cardiovascular system and bones.
